Next question

Is there a moment you would like to go back to and relive? Can I ask, to add to that: If so, would you just like to relive it or is there something you would like to change in that moment? Few, if any, people are going to want to elaborate, but if you want to, go for it. For me, I hate to say it, but my moment(s) have to do with parenting. Moments I wish I could have "do overs" for and show more wisdom, more understanding, more patience.

  1. Patty,
You are not going to get any honest answers to this one. The process is just too painful. My attempt is your classic "hoop-skirt" answer--it covers everything but touches nothing.
You are right about the parenting aspects being paramount. Thirteen years ago I put in writing a very lengthy letter of instructions for my five grandsons. Only over the past two years has the oldest come of age. He has graduated from college and I plan to give him his letter during the next few weeks. Buried in the text is the following excerpt:
... the only truly important decision a man has to make in his lifetime is who to marry. We have nothing to say about our parents or the day we’re born. We usually have nothing to say about where or when we die but when the moment of death comes you will be solely responsible for having chosen the woman who may or may not be at your bedside.
There is, however, one over-riding problem. The boy is madly in love and no line of reasoning or words of wisdom will alter nature's course ... bring back memories?
    You know who ...

    1. I didn't get any answers, much less honest ones. I think the only important decision a man has to make is what kind of man he wants to be. That's a little easier for a young man to think about and for an older man to reflect upon.

  3. I'm waiting for your next question. Or, are you waiting to be asked one?
Suggestion based on recent PBHS observations: "Is bliss also ignorance?"
